Autumn Chill

Autumn is such a gorgeous season! All of the leaves are myriads of burnt gold and crimson, and the squirrels are scurrying around carrying nuts to their winter hoards. Soon will be the spookyest time of year... Halloween!

I've been working hard this Fall to make my art business into a more concrete thing - and to make a name for mys
elf and my work. Here are some of the things I've done:

SolarisSky My website, which features my Prints Gallery, Artist Bio, Wholesale and Licensing info, and Links to me on the web. Soon it will be up and running :)

My Zazzle Shop Features products that I haven't made by hand, such as t-shirts, shoes, buttons, postage stamps, coffee mugs, and m
uch more! Some examples of my newest products:

Spooky Faerie Buttons:

Fill one of our mugs with your favourite cocoa, and sit by the fireside.

A Halloween inspired Tee

My Etsy Shop is also a great place to snag some deals on original art work and prints, along with my specialty bookmarks.

I'm also an active member of the FaeForums, a lovely website for those interested in fantasy and faeries, artwork and small business. Everyone's really friendly and encouraging, I recommend stopping by!

First Post Jitters

Welcome to my brand spankin' new Blog! *sparkles*

This blog will feature my fantasy artwork in progress, news, products, special sales, poetry, and ramblings.

Greetings to all and any viewing this blog o' mine today! I suppose I should write a bit about myself if you're taking the time to read my journal! My name is Sasha Fitzgerald, and I'm an illustrator from British Columbia, Canada. I'm currently i
n University studying drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, and art history. I love to learn and try new things and meet new people, and school is just the place for that! I'm working towards a bachlors in Fine Arts, though I may delve into a business degree in the future as well.

I have a great passion for all thin
gs fantastical and faerie-like. It probably stemmed from my childhood crush on Peter Pan, and a great wish to join him and Tinkerbell in Never Never Land. Since then, I've adored Brian Froud's Goblins and Faeries, and read every fantasy novel I could get my hands on. I paint magical beings with watercolours and ink, and write fantasy stories in notebooks (and hope to get a laptop soon).

One of my biggest passions is the outdoors and travelling. I absolutely love camping in the summer time; kayaking to Gambier island, setting up a tarp and sleeping bag, and cooking some pasta over an open fire. Nature hikes are my way of reflecting and relaxing, and feeling at one with all the little critters of the wood. A few years ago I was fortunate enough to travel to Europe, a continent I've always dreamed of, and never imagined actually going. Of the many places I experienced, a favourite had to be Carcasonne, in France, a beautiful little town inside of a Castle. Cars drove up and down the one way lanes! It was a fantasy born to life! They sold REAL gargoyles used to poor scalding hot oil on attackers outside the castle. Another wondrous place I visited was Pompeii, a ruined and partially buried Roman town near Napoli. Pompeii was destroyed, and completely buried, during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano, Mount Vesuvius 79 AD. The whole city was covered under many metres of ash and pumice. It was lost for nearly 1700 years. The city was preserved amazingly well - there were figures cast in cement, that were actual people found during the excavation. I saw a pregnant woman, a dog, and several loaves of round bread. It was morbidly beautiful.

I would love to meet fellow artists, writers, and general bloggers, so drop me a comment!
